Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport Bhogapuram, India
A New Gateway for Andhra Pradesh.
Bhogapuram International Airport represents a major new chapter in aviation infrastructure for the eastern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Developed by GMR Airports as a new greenfield airport near Visakhapatnam, the project is being created to provide the region with significantly increased aviation capacity and modern passenger facilities. The airport is initially being developed to accommodate six million passengers per year, with future expansion planned to increase capacity to 12 million.
As part of the development, Zoeftig has been selected to design, supply and install passenger seating throughout the new terminal.
The specification centres around Contact Plus PU, one of Zoeftigs long established seating platforms with polyurethane single piece seat and back componentry designed for the intensive demands of a busy airport environment.
Integrated Phase Power provides passengers with convenient access to device charging directly within the seating environment, reflecting the increasingly important role that connectivity plays throughout the passenger journey.
For a new-build airport, selecting seating is about more than meeting the requirements of opening day. Products need to perform reliably under high passenger volumes while providing the durability and longevity required from infrastructure expected to remain in service for many years.
Bhogapuram is being delivered as a major new aviation gateway for the region, with L&T responsible for the wider airport construction, including the terminal, airfield, ATC tower and supporting infrastructure.
For Zoeftig, the project demonstrates our ability to support major greenfield airport developments from design through to supply and installation, bringing together robust passenger seating and integrated power within a terminal designed for the future growth of air travel in Andhra Pradesh.
