London Stansted International Airport, United Kingdom
Zoeftig was commissioned by London Stansted Airport (STN) to replace the airport’s seating across multiple passenger areas, including three satellite piers. The project required the installation of 2,700 seats, all specifically chosen for their functionality, aesthetic appeal, and durability in a high-traffic, public environment. The seats, Contact Plus PU and Zenky Plus PRM models, were designed to meet both comfort and accessibility standards. The project was broken down into three phases, with daily deliveries and installations occurring during non-flight hours. This careful coordination ensured that no passenger travel activities were disrupted during the process.
The old seating was removed during the nights, with the new seating delivered and installed the following evening. This approach helped maintain a smooth transition without impacting passengers or staff. To facilitate the efficient delivery and installation of the new seating, bespoke trolleys were designed and supplied by Zoeftig. These trolleys allowed for quick offloading and easy manoeuvring of the seats through the airport’s high-security environment, ensuring that the product was delivered safely and efficiently to the satellite piers.
Zoeftig worked closely with the MAG operated Stansted Airport and their logistics partner throughout the project to ensure that all aspects of the installation ran smoothly. Naturally, the high-security environment of an airport presented additional logistical challenges, which were addressed through careful planning and regular communication. By coordinating closely with the airport’s operations team, Zoeftig was able to complete the project without causing any disruption to passengers, staff, or flight schedules. The successful installation of the new seating across the three satellite piers has greatly improved the passenger experience at London Stansted Airport.
The combination of stylish, durable, and accessible seating solutions has transformed the seating areas into comfortable, modern spaces for passengers to relax while waiting for their flights.
Zoeftig’s bespoke solutions, careful planning, and coordination with airport stakeholders played a key role in ensuring the success of this project, enhancing both the functionality and aesthetic of London Stansted Airport.
