L001: Waiting Is Part of the Journey

Every airport journey has one thing in common.

Waiting.

Whether it’s five minutes before boarding or an unexpected delay, every passenger spends time in a terminal between arriving and departing. While airports continue to streamline check-in, security and boarding, waiting remains an unavoidable part of the travel experience.

The difference today is how people wait.

Passengers no longer simply sit until their flight is called. They work, charge devices, make video calls, eat, read and stay connected. The departures area has become a temporary office, café and meeting space, all rolled into one – this shift in how passengers see and use spaces has directly impacted our thinking and design choices for how we shape our products.

The Lounge

Seating is no longer just somewhere to rest. It is an essential part of the passenger experience, quietly supporting comfort, productivity and accessibility throughout the terminal.

Working alongside airports around the world for almost five decades has reinforced one simple lesson for Zoeftig: the best seating is rarely noticed. When it is positioned correctly, designed thoughtfully and built to perform for decades, it quietly allows the passenger journey to flow. Every product in the Zoeftig portfolio has been designed with a set of hard rules, including maximum product longevity and outstanding levels of comfort, as well as each product having its own specific set of reasons to exist, such as offering cost efficient options, modular systems for changing spaces and hyper robust options for especially heavy traffic areas.

When seating is designed ineffectively however, passengers notice immediately. Crowded gate areas, people sitting on floors, limited charging facilities and uncomfortable waiting spaces quickly become a travellers lasting impression of an airport.

For airport operators, architects and designers, seating is rightly so far more than a furnishing. It is infrastructure that shapes the way passengers experience a terminal every single day.

Whatever your terminal’s size, passenger profile or operational challenge, Zoeftig has the expertise and seating solutions to help.
