Zoeftig bring InFINITE comfort to Syamsudin Noor International Airport
Serving Banjarmasin, the largest city and capital of Kalimantan in Indonesia, Syamsudin Noor International Airport has always faced a huge amount of travellers.
From regular air passengers to masses of Islamic pilgrims on their annual journey to Mecca, this Indonesian flight hub had a long history of running over-capacity for flights and passengers. That was until the impressive terminal expansion was completed in December 2019.
Growing from 9,000 square metres to a gargantuan 77,569 square metres, a new apron that can now accommodate 20 large passenger aircraft, an extended runway, and now comfortably handling 7 million travellers per annum, five times the capacity of old, Syamsudin Noor International Airport is now undoubtedly fit for flight purpose.
Working in partnership with the airport, Zoeftig has been instrumental in delivering comfort and convenience for passengers. Taking into account the high concentration of passengers at any one time, our team of designers worked in strategic partnership with the airport’s architects to deliver the perfect seating solution. Zoeftig’s ever popular inFINITE range was the unanimous decision.
Unlike most seating systems, inFINITE – via a beam construction that offers untold versatility – offers unlimited potential for customising space and seating configurations. This was a key factor for the Indonesian airport.
The unit number breakdown of the installation tells it’s own story; 162 three-seaters, 53 four-seaters, 70 three-unit rows and 23 four-unit rows, both with Charge Plus power supply for electronic devices. That’s 1,000 seats in total that can be configured to accommodate high concentrations of passengers at any time.
The units are finished in sleek black, with end-arms only, and with matching PU leather material on the seats and backrests for easy-to-clean and economical maintenance. Aesthetically, they look striking and stunning inside the revamped and extended terminal environment, providing a sophisticated and modern touch to an increasingly busy and popular airport.
With the professional expertise of Zoeftig, Syamsudin Noor International Airport is also now receiving the status and acclaim it deserves, with Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo inaugurating the new terminal on the 18th of December 2019.
An airport with seating truly fit for presidential travel!
